Honda History
Originally founded in 1948 by Soichiro Honda who had developed a piston ring design for engines originally selling his design to Toyota. Shortly after the Honda set up a company making small engines for attachment to bicycles by the 1950’s
Honda was producing its first fully made motorcycle the Dream D-Type equipped with a 98cc engine and was soon producing Scooters for the Japanese market.By 1958 the American Honda Company had been founded and in 1959 Honda produced its first model in the USA, the Honda C100 Super Club.

In 1954 Honda entered the motorcycle-racing arena setting up its own division HRC for the development and production of race bikes. By 1979 Honda had returned to Grand Prix Motorcycle racing with the monocoque frame four stroke NR500.
